Problem: The patient presented with an asymptomatic cyst, initially the size of a peanut, which grew to approximately 3 cm x 2.5 cm x 2 cm over three years. Discomfort during sleep prompted seeking medical attention.
Diagnosis: Diagnosed as a ‘Gulma’ or cystic lesion, referencing the ayurvedic sutra “Gulma arsh vidradhi kushta waat rakt galamyaan, Netra rog vish visarpaan shamaynti jalaukasaa.” This suggested that leech therapy could effectively treat and eliminate the cyst. Thus, the decision was made to apply leech therapy at Ancient Secret.
Treatment Plan: A 3-month treatment plan was recommended, involving leech therapy sessions at 20-day intervals. Three sessions were conducted, applying a total of 12 medicinal leeches. Local applications and internal ayurvedic medicines complemented the treatment.
Outcome: After the first session, the cyst became notably softer. Following the second session, the cyst’s size dramatically reduced by half. By the end of the third session and within 20 days of follow-up, the cyst completely disappeared. The patient experienced relief from discomfort, expressing satisfaction with the successful outcome.
